what are your goals

What are your goals in life?

“People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.”

~ Tony Robbins

So, what do you want in life? Where do you see yourself in the next 5yrs? Do you want your life to be ok or wants to live a powerful life? Which key areas of your life do you want to improve? What new things will you aspire to learn this year? These are few sets of questions which you can ask yourself to be aware of your goals.

I have seen people dreaming about lots of things. They cause too many goals and are extremely optimistic when they set them, and feel dissapointed when they do not accomplish them.

The major trouble with most of the people is they rarely recognize what they really want in life, as they are extremely influenced by other people’s goals. They want to have goals just because their peers have it. They want to buy a car, house, smartphones, etc. just because their near and dear ones have bought it and they just forget to live their own dreams.

You must ask yourself:

“What do I really want in my life?”

You must set goals which really inspires you, which will compel you to live an inspiring life. The life which you desired. Once you set them, you will encounter few challenges in the path, which might create a hurdle to achieve those goals. So, just BELIEVE in yourself and be FOCUSED, PERSISTENT, DETERMINED and CONSISTENT in your action.

All great people who have inspired us have faced the challenges in their lives, and in spite of that they have succeeded. Take note of the following examples:

» for his first U-15 match in Pune, Sachin Tendulkar walked from Dadar to Shivaji Park carrying two big bags as he did not have money to afford a cab.

» Walt Disney was put to work on a newspaper route, delivering newspapers come hail or sun, at the tender age of 9, and that too without pay.

» Steve Jobs faced many upheavals in his career at Apple Computers, despite being one of the co-founders.

» Dhirubhai Ambani is one of Indian’s best motivating stories of all times – he founded Reliance Industries in 1969 with a seed capital of just US $ 1000 and later on made it Fortune 500 company. We all know how’s Reliance is doing nowadays. So his legacy still goes on.

I can continue this list, or I can focus on you and help you have a long talk with yourself to define your goals – what are your goals?

Once you know “WHAT” you want? Then you must know “WHY” you want it? WHY is the fuel that makes the invisible visible.

You will find your purpose once you get clarity as to WHY you must achieve your goal.

Remember, the purpose is STRONGER than the outcome.

If you create a strong enough “WHY” to keep you going, you will have the fuel to endure anything that comes your way.

As Tom Bradley rightly quoted:

“The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is you.”

So, keep believing in yourself.

In this post, you have understood what you really want in life and why you want it. In the next blog, I will show you how to achieve what you really want.
